Happy New Year!

Hey, hope you all had a great Christmas. It was a good time for us. We got to spend a lot of time with some cool members and had a very homey Christmas. Now New Years is coming up and that's going to be fun too. We are getting together as a whole mission on New Years Eve to party and to celebrate Sister Savage's birthday which is on New Years day.
Have a wonderful New Year in Christ!

Merry Christmas!!

Hey all, This week has been pretty good. We had our ward Christmas Party and Kim came to that and really enjoyed it. Dawn also came and got some food, but she left because her child is sick, and now she's sick.
We got a new investigator, Josefina. She is a really awesome lady from South Sudan, and all her siblings and parents live in Utah and are members now so she wants to learn more. We'll be meeting with her whole family this friday, so that should be awesome.

We had our Christmas Zone conference, and that was pretty awesome and fun.
And then last night all the district leaders had a training/sleepover at the mission home and that was really good and fun. I so enjoyed being able to talk with Elder Melchin, because he's a district leader too. We had a late night. On Sunday we also had a member of the Fort Collins Temple Presidency and his wife come and speak to us in Sacrament and in the third hour. He is so amazingly knowledgeable and awesome. That was a good experience.

Watch these videos by Elder Bednar. They are amazing.

Louisville Again!

So transfers happened last Thursday and both Elder Leonard and myself stayed in Louisville. We did however have to move out of our members' home (the Rice's) and into the Bishop's (Loveday's). Slight bummer because I love the Rice's, but I get to move into the Lovedays, whom I stayed with last time I was in Louisville.
Also, another new thing is that I was asked to be a district leader. That's a new adventure right there.
We weren't able to meet with a lot of our investigators this week because they are all sick or out of town or whathaveyou. But this week should be really good.
Last night was the stake Christmas Fireside. Literally all it was was about 15 musical numbers. And it was the best. I've known this for a while, but the Boulder Stake is jam packed with incredible musical talent (70% of which is found in the Louisville ward). And it was all on display last night. It was well worth the price of admission (which was none, but still).

Have a Wonderful week!

Happy December!

Time has flown really fast. This week were able to meet with Kim, and Rez and Leila. Kim lesson went great when we talked about the Plan of Salvation. She had a bunch of really good questions. Rez and Leila's lesson wasn't too great. They are Muslim and they want proof from the old testament that Jesus is THE Son of God and took our sins upon him. They are a little more difficult. Personally I think that we won't be able to convince them if they have mindset. They've just got to pray and read the Book of Mormon. We got another investigator that we taught yesterday, Dawn. She is really awesome and loves what we teach her. We'll be working with her a lot.

So this week is transfers but we won't know what is going on until Wednesday because the whole system has changed because the MTC changed and the there will be a lot fewer missionaries moving around now. So this time next week I might be somewhere else.

Watch the Christmas Devotional. It's really good.

Happy December! Have a good week!

Happy Almost Thanksgiving!

Got another surprise text this morning!

"HAPPY ALMOST THANKSGIVING"

"No unhallowed hand can stop the work"

November 20,2017

This week was pretty good.
Highlights:
- I became a solicitor.
- I became a Spanish missionary for a day.
- We got to hear from our mission president and remember that he's awesome.
- Started helping out a the Community Food Share food bank.

Ty will probably be baptized next week, because we have to wait until bishop goes back to the jail and gets written permission from his father saying that he can be baptized. And they are moving out of the ward this Saturday, so officially his baptism will happen in the Lafayette ward (just next door.)

We are going to be having a lesson with our top investigator Tony tomorrow so that should be very good.

We'll be eating Thanksgiving at the place that we are living at, with the Rices. They are an awesome family.

Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

- Threw lots of snowballs.
- Taught some of our investigators that are awesome. Ty is going to be baptized around thanksgiving. Albert is really awesome, but we'll have to pass him off to the YSA Elders. Kisha is pretty cool, she's just super busy at the moment looking for a better job.
- Got to talk with a bunch more members that are awesome and I love.

These talks are amazing.

Extra Terrestrial

Hey, so some things have happened in the last little bit. So for the past little while when I was with Elder Turner, he was dealing with health issues and going to lots of doctors and stuff. So he went home last Thursday and I was transferred to Louisville, one of my old areas. I'm loving being here once again and seeing all the people in the ward that I loved. My new companion is Elder Leonard. He's been out for about 4-5 months and he is really awesome and we are going to get lots of work done here.
This Friday we are having a zone conference and Elder Wilford W. Andersen of the Seventy will be coming to talk with us. I'm really excited for that.
This Saturday there will be a baptism here, Terry. She lives in our ward but has been taught by the sisters in Lafayette by special assignment because Terry is autistic. Also we are teaching a nine year old that will be baptized in Lafayette because they are moving there. So we're doing a little trade off.
Today I'll be going bowling again and then we'll play some volleyball, so that should be fun.
Love,
Elder Wheelwright

Happy Halloween!

This week has been pretty good. I got to go on exchanges with my district leader Elder Hassell, and he is an awesome fun guy🍄 and we got a lot of work done that day.

We went to two Trunk or treat parties, one on Friday and next on Saturday. It was lot of fun.

On Wednesday we get to go to the temple!!  I'm excited for it.

Still here....

Transfers happened and I have stayed. Elder Turner has stayed as well. We will however be getting another companion sometime in the next couple weeks. Elder Windsor went home for medical reasons a while back and is coming back, so we'll be a trio for the rest of the transfer.

Some highlights of this week:
- We had the other "Why I Believe" fireside last night and that was great as well.
- We had our investigator Tom come to Church to listen to me speak in sacrament meeting. Tom also came to the fireside.

"Brethren, adieu."

Hey guys

Some highlights from the past week.

- We had Zone Conference and it was really great. (We got lost on the way there and ended up 2 hours late....)

- "Why I believe" RC fireside was last night and that was really great. We got to perform some great musical numbers and hear from some great recent converts. We are having another fireside this Sunday for the north half of the mission, so that will be awesome as well.

- We went bowling and that was pretty fun. We played two games and my highest was 116.

- We contacted a referral this week named Douglas, and he loves scriptures and he loves the Book of Mormon but he has a few concerns we're trying to work out with him. He is really awesome, but he has a strange way of thinking and of how he views the world.

World-Wide Indexing Event  Don't miss out!!

Have a great week,
Elder Wheelwright

Hey!

Tuesday, October 10,2017

The libraries were indeed closed yesterday and we are emailing today.

This past week was ok. We were able to teach Curtis and get to talk to Tom. Curtis enjoyed the message of the restoration, but it has not touched his heart yet. We just got to know Tom and set expectations.
A really cool thing that happened is George Durrant and Susan Easton Black came to visit our mission while they were doing some other devotionals here, so we got to hear them. They are both incredible. Susan Easton Black is probably the most knowledgeable person about Joseph Smith on the planet (I'm not kidding). She's written/co-authored over 160 books, and I plan on reading a couple when I get home.

One of my new favorite quotes:

"Happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it, the more it eludes you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder." - Henry David Thoreau

Have a blessed week,
Elder Wheelwright
