Heyo

We went to the temple today. And it was awesome! But we got up at 4am. Nuff said.
This week has been going really well so far. Trying not to get sick from my companion, but he's on the upandup.

Hello there!

Things have been going pretty well here. Not much has happened this past week, but it was good.

Sadly we did find out that Jackie S. is moving this week. It's a bummer and he's sad about it too, but whatever. He'll probably still get baptized in a couple weeks. I'll miss that guy.

Richard came to church again! And Rita the RC (and Richard's roommate) got up and bore her testimony even though her sister passed away last week and her dad is in a coma. She is so amazing.

The past couple days we have had some wondrous weather. Very cool considering the norm of summer here. And today is fantastic; it's a really comfortable cool and its misting. It's such nice Seattle weather.

Anyways that's about it this week! See Ya!

Have a Splendid week,

New transfer!

Hello World.

We have a new transfer coming up, and we are so excited. We and our good friends in U-Hills (the next ward over) are all staying put here in Denver. We are so happy about that. Pretty much everything else in the mission changed except us. President Savage has changed so much stuff. So many areas got combined. And what used to be 11 zones is now 7 zones.
This next transfer for us is going to be so good. We've got  a couple people lined up to be baptized in the next 6 weeks. Jackie didn't get baptized, but will be baptized hopefully on the 12th.

This week we had a crazy gospel miracle. There is this guy that would always be super rude to us (slam the door, throw the Book of Mormon out the 2-story window, lie to us, spout anti, etc.) but he came to church (with the persistence of a recent convert) and he loved it and is now meeting with us, and we can easily see him getting baptized now. This is the biggest change I've ever seen the gospel make in someones life. It's really crazy awesome.

Chris and Ashly Grahl are so amazing. I can't even describe how amazing they are. They just KNOW that God is going to take care of them. And Chris already signed up to come with us to our lessons. Really awesome.

People are out there that are waiting/looking for the gospel. Go find them!

Peace,
Elder Wheelwright

Awesome Week

This week was really awesome because Chris and Ashly were baptized! And confirmed! I baptized Ashly and confirmed Chris, and Elder Melchin baptized Chris and confirmed Ashly.
It was really awesome and they are so happy and awesome. (They are also really short ;) )

Jackie is still planning on getting baptized, but we pushed it back a week, and we might push it back more to make sure he really gets it for the right reasons.

We had interviews with President and Sister Savage a couple days ago. President Savage is really awesome.

We are pretty excited looking at all the potential for next transfer. There are so many things that we can make happen next transfer, and we are begging President Savage to keep us both here. We're hoping!

Have a wonderful week!

Miracles everywhere!

This last week was another amazing week. We taught Chris and Ashly a couple more times and they passed their baptismal interview. One of our zone leaders interviewed Chris in the elevator of their complex (they just kept going up and down the 4 floors and we were cracking up watching them). They are good to go for this Saturday. I'll be baptizing Ashly and Elder Melchin will baptize Chris, and we'll switch for the confirmation.

Another miracle that happened this week was that we met this guy Jackie who investigated the church a year ago, but we started teaching him and he is going to get baptized on the 29th!! He said he already knows that the Book of Mormon is true. He has been prepared for us by the Lord through an awesome member in the next stake over. Blessed day.

This week has been crazy packed with appointments like last week

We went and saw the biggest graveyard ever in our area today and this massive mausoleum with over 16k dead people inside. Crazy Huge.

President and Sister Savage are savage. We are super intense and awesome as we saw in Zone Conference this past week. I like them and I look forward to getting to know them real well.

Have a Blessed Week, and see Miracles,
Elder Wheelwright

Crazy crazy crazy

This place is cray. We are teaching so much we barely have time to go finding. It's pretty awesome.

Connor is an cool guy who is so deep in alcohol, but he is trying to get out. Today, I think he is 35 days sober. His record is 42 days, and he is super scared right now that he'll relapse, but we are trying to help him. If he can make it to 50 days we will baptize him.

Dale is a crazy guy who believes in energy. He can channel his energy and "spirit punch" people. Yeah. He's weird, but he'll get there eventually.

John is an awesome guy that has been taught for a while. He is a hardcore catholic that is super interested in the apostasy. He is just having a hard time getting an answer to the Book of Mormon. We think he might be afraid to.  We are taking our new Mission President Savage to our lesson with him on Wednesday.

Chris and Ashley are still super amazing.  They are set on getting baptized on July 22nd.  They just absorb everything we teach them. They are awesome. We actually met with them three times this past week.

By the way we met our mission president and his wife last week. They are pretty awesome. I'm excited to see whats happens with them. We are having a Zone Conference this week, and they are probably going to change up some things.

Have a Wonderful Week!

Hola

Monday, July 3rd 2017

This week has been a pretty awesome week. It was the first full week here in this area so I was able to get a better feel of how this area is. And it's pretty awesome. There is way more teaching to be done here than any of my past areas, so it's a lot of fun. We got that awesome golden family on baptismal date for 19th, but now we have to push it back because they didn't come to church. They just felt prompted to go into the church building and they loved the feeling there and all the friendship. They are so awesome. We also taught a guy named Sherman and he has an awesome relationship to God and he realized when we taught the restoration that he has never asked God which church is correct. He downloaded gospel library and now he will listen to the book of Mormon because it has really caught his attention. We are pretty excited to meet with him again on Friday. Sadly, we have to put our car into the shop on Wednesday. And we have a busy week ahead of us.

Since Elder Melchin is the district leader I have to go on a bunch of exchanges with the people in the district. So last Thursday I went to the City Park ward and was with two other elders (because they are a trio). City park is crazy. That is just straight up downtown Denver. They don't have a car, so we used the buses, trams, and light-rails all day to get around. It was a crazy day.

Yesterday we talked to some crazy people who believed in the "Mandela effect" where history is changing because of crazy science experiments dealing with time travel.... yeah. But crazy people are a part of Denver.

Elder Wheelwright

Blessed Land

I'll start off by saying that I'm super excited about this transfer. It's going to be amazing if we do it right. God has dumped so many blessings here in this transfer it's crazy. We are going to be working with a lot of awesome people. There are two couples that are probably going to get baptized. It's super exciting.

Elder Melchin is my companion and he is super awesome. It's going to be an awesome transfer. He is from Calgary Canada. He came out two or three transfers before me. This companion knows how to work. He knows how to be effective. We get along really well together and it's going to be an awesome transfer. We are living in an apartment, we have a car (for now, before it has to go into the shop). This area (Bible Park) is not in downtown Denver. The City Park ward covers all of downtown Denver, and that's a crazy place. But Bible Park is covered mostly with apartment complexes.

We've gotten to see a lot of President and Sister Mendenhall this past week. They leave in four days. We got to go to a farewell reception that was held at our church building down the street (no other missionaries got to go ;) and we had them participate in a youth fireside last night where the youth from the whole stake could ask the panel (the Mendenhalls, us, and a sister RM) questions. It was a really awesome time. But it's super sad to see them go. We will get to see them for the last time tomorrow.

Have a Wonderful Week.

Elder Wheelwright

Transfers and half a pie

Well it's transfer time again, and many things are changing. Both me and my companion are leaving the area.
I'll be in the Bible Park ward in the Denver Stake. My new companion will be Elder Melchin.

I'm a little sad to be leaving this area, because we finally got in contact with a media referral from a while ago, and they are so golden is crazy. The Hendricks are a married couple in their 50s. They are dying to meet with the missionaries. They want to feed us dinner, and they already each had a quad set. That's a missionaries dream. I wish them well. There are people out there everywhere like that. We just don't know them. And they don't either. But God knows.

The future holds many unknown things. Let's go out and find the good stuff.

Love,
Elder Wheelwright

Mormons

This week was pretty was a bit of a slow week. My companion has been under the weather this week, and still kind of is. But we still get out there and work.

Something really awesome happened on Friday. We had a mission-wide recent-convert fireside. All the recent converts from the past three years in the mission were invited. And all the missionaries in the mission were there. Many wonderful musical numbers were given by missionaries, and many wonderful talks and testimonies given by the recent converts. Missionary work from members and full-time missionaries really do bring miracles and blessings into people's lives. This gospel brings joy and happiness into the lives of all those that accept it. So the people I don't share the gospel with, don't have that opportunity for greater joy. So I share and talk with everyone I can. If you're not a member go to mormon.org and learn how to find more happiness.

Peace and Love from,
Elder Wheelwright

We got our car - and some pretty wet weather!!  Just look at these stained feet from my shoes.

Supper time

Monday, June 5 2017

Jello everybody!

It's been a pretty good week. It's been the same old same old. Good things happening. We're doing our best to find teach people about Jesus Christ. That's what we're all about. We always run into a bunch of nice people every week, which is pretty great. We got our car back this week!! Woot Woot.

Some things I've learned this week:
  • Jacob is one of my favorite Prophets in the Book of Mormon because he is so empathetic
  • King Benjamin is a boss. Give to the poor.
  • Biking is slower than cars

Have a wonderful week,
Elder Wheelwright

Happy Memorial Day! ...Yesterday!

Hello Everyone!

We did nothing special yesterday for the holiday, except go to the ward memorial breakfast.

This past week was pretty good. We were able to meet some more new people that we hopefully will get to teach some more. On a sadder note, some of the people that we've found in previous weeks don't want to be taught anymore. That's how this area goes. It's fairly easy to find people to teach, but it's equally as easy for them to drop us a week later. So what we do, is we just go out and find more new people and pray that they stick. That is life. And I'm loving it. This is probably the most fruitful area I've been in, and I like that. I'll keep working and you keep working. Deal? Deal.

Have a most splendid week!

Love ya!

Don't let Satan slog you down

Monday, May 22, 2017

Hello World.

This week was a storm. Literally.🌧🌨🌩.
Several time this week we came home drenched. There's only so much a rain jacket can do.
We ride on lots of dirt paths here, and in the rain they turned to three inches of mud. Our bikes got annihilated by the mud, and we couldn't ride them until we cleaned them off.

We found two new investigators this week. That's fun. Other than that, pretty much all of our other appointments fell through except for one, a really awesome recent convert who is preparing to go to the temple and just got a calling to teach primary.

Rumor has it that we should be getting our car back in a week, so that would be kind of nice. There is one random neighborhood about 8 miles away that we can't efficiently get to on bike.

May your heart be filled with love,
Elder Wheelwright

Guten Morgen

Monday, May 15, 2017

Another week has passed. We met with a few people this week, but we couldn't get anyone to sacrament meeting due to it being Mother's day. We found a cool new investigator named Adrian. He readily accepted a Book of Mormon and we are going to see him this week.

Happy Mother's Day!!

So I'm in my new area now and this is a biking area. We are living in an apartment. The first two days I got here, we were dealing with our apartment flooding. We (being on the first floor) got everybody's backwater. The water came up out of the drain in our bathroom sink, fill up the sink, then spill out over the counter. It was nasty water too. People's used water. The maintenance guys "fixed" it twice, but it kept happening. The third attempt worked.

Things will continue. Have a wonderful week!

Later,
Elder Wheelwright

The great move has come.

It is transfer time and I'm being transferred. This is time when I most wanted to stay, but alas, it is what it is. I'll be going to Aurora Stake, Coal Creek Ward. My new companion will be Elder Burt.

It is a bit sad that I'll be leaving. These past few weeks it feels like we've built up a lot of momentum here and I was excited as to where it would go. But whatever. I'll hear about it.
On Wednesday I'll be headed off to the unknown.

Not much has happened. It's only been three days since I emailed last. But good stuff.

Watch this.

Our Body is a Temple

May 3, 2017

Hello all.
If our body is a temple, is the temple a body? It's a body for the spirit and awesomeness is what it is .
We went to the temple today, hence why I'm emailing today. Monday was a normal day for us and today is our pday day for this week. I so wish I could go to the temple more, but we only every three months. 🙁
We had a pretty good week. Yesterday was the monthly car fast and we found a promising new investigator, Diana. We'll talk to her next week again. She was super interested in the Book of Mormon and that Jesus came to the Americas. Cool cool cool.
We rode bikes all that day and we went super far from Louisville to Boulder on a huge hill.

Transfers are coming up exactly a week from today. I'll find out on Monday.
Peace,
Elder Wheelwright

Another week

Good and bad things have happened. Like normal. The good things were good and the bad things were bad.
Earlier this week we went knocking doors and we found an awesome new investigator and he would be baptized in three weeks save for one or two large catch ups. I truly hope that as he comes to find the truth that those things can be changed.
Sean has been doing all right. This week we are going to help him stop smoking. Hopefully that will be a trigger to help him progress.
We went on an awesome hike last Monday which made us be late for everything, but it was awesome. We hiked the first and second flatirons (the left two). Colorado hikes are better than even Washington's.  It was cool. We all went as a zone.
There are some awesome members in this ward. I'll be sad when I leave.

Happy Easter!

Monday, April 17, 2017

Happy Easter yesterday!
I hope you all enjoyed it. We had a really good time. Church was amazing with a splendid musical program for sacrament meeting. And we played badminton after dinner with the family and their non-member friends, then we went over to another members house shared an Easter message with them and had cake. Pretty good day.
We were able to get Sean to church because we told him that there was a special things going on for easter, but that may have been the last time in a long while. He doesn't want to come to church anymore, but he still wants to meet with us and come to the book of mormon class that we teach. It is what it is.
Things are starting to warm up here. Winter is now gone, though I hear that it's still very possible that we will still get some snow again.
We had an awesome zone conference this past week where we talked a lot about the spirit. Always involve God in your life and seek his guidance through the spirit.

Peace,
Elder Wheelwright

Tuesday, April 11, 2017

Hello.
This week has been pretty good. #PrinceofPeace is in full effect and it is awesome. We got a new investigator yesterday and we showed them that video  and they said that that was what they really needed, and they we will be exploring mormon.org and watching general conference. It is sweet.

We moved out of our member's house for a couple days because their daughter visited home, and we just moved back in yesterday. Today should be a chill day. We had a car fast on Tuesday, which means we don't use our car from 10:30a to 5:00p.   It just so happened that it snowed that day. 5 inches+.   Fun times.
Have a wonderful week.

God is Good. Life is good.
Watch General Conference. It is good.
We got Sean and Richard to watch it, and they both got something good out of it.
Things with Elder Siler are going good.

Seven weeks is over

It is transfer time again.

I'm staying. Elder Black is going. And my new companion is Elder Siler.  Elder Siler will be the district leader as well.

This past week has been the most unusual week. Elder Black went in for surgery on Thursday morning on his hand. They removed a cyst and repaired a torn ligament and took out some bone fragments. His injury happened like 3 months ago, but they finally took care of it. He got knocked out completely and had major surgery. He was loopy for a bit, and he (we) had to stay inside for the next 2 days.... but that night we went to see the Lamb of God. It was amazing. Too bad you guys couldn't see it. Though there is still one performance happening in Boulder. Hopefully I will be able to see it again. I will have to find another non-member to come again.
Those two days were pretty relaxing and boring.

Sean. He liked the performance. Before that he said that he wouldn't be becoming a mormon because we are "too good". He said he is going to become a JW instead. We met with him a couple days later and he said he had met with the JWs and he doesn't want to join them either. He still wants to come to church and meet with us though. I don't know what will happen.

We were able to finally talk to this guy Jay that we found a month ago and we had an awesome lesson with him. He's got a lot of potential. We invited him to read the Book of Mormon and he said he wanted a week or two to do so. So we will see him in a couple weeks and see how he is doing.

Excited for General Conference. Have a great week.

Later,
Elder Wheelwright

Also last Monday after emailing we went on a hike. And it was very bad and pretty cool. We drove an hour into the Rockies, then started hiking. The hike started out with marginal amounts of snow (which got our California Elder stuck driving up there for about 30 min) and ended up 2-3 feet. It had a hard crust so we could walk on top of it 60% of the time, otherwise we fell in to our knees. We didn't make it to where we wanted to go.  Great sights though. And we went sledding on our butts. ;)

We also worked on a farm.

Another surprise text......

(Love getting these!)

"We had the pleasure of your sons over for dinner!  Our son is currently serving a mission in the Philippines so we know how precious these pictures of our boys can be!!!"
